Inspired by their local surrounds, the artworks on these stobie poles bring green into spaces where there previously was none and enhance the urban and suburban beauty of their location. The clay used is from the local soil and the plants are primarily natives that will thrive in the Australian sun.
Working with mentor Christine Cholewa and alongside fellow artists Tiarnie Edwards, Kate Sheirlow and Chelsie Morey, this work was made in conjuction with Helpmann Academy, SA Power Networks, The City of West Torrens, and The City of Port Adelaide Enfield. Two of the poles can be found at Beefacres Reserve in Windsor Gardens (on Brookvale Road) and the other two on Hampton Road in Keswick. You will notice many decorated poles from this years’ artists and previous iterations of this project.
I am very thankful to have been able to take part in this project, make my stamp on my local surrounds, and celebrate the 100 year anniversary of the Stobie Pole.
